I’m Luca Fariello, an ambitious and driven cinematographer born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From a young age, I’ve been captivated by the world of cinema, spending countless hours in my early days behind a camera creating home videos and experimenting with different storytelling techniques. During my first year of college, the role of a DP called out to me and ever since then, I’ve been dedicated to capturing images in all different aspects. I am currently a senior at DePaul University’s School of Cinematic Arts, concentrating in Cinematography.

My passion for visual storytelling has been influenced by films that challenge my philosophies on life and highlight the human condition. My cinematic style is atmospheric and intentional, striking a careful balance between realism and grandeur, as I am deeply connected to portraying raw perspectives through distinctive visual lenses. I am drawn to images that convey technical precision yet evoke an emotional response, consistently seeking innovative approaches and techniques to be more efficient and enrich my visuals.

Lighting is central to my creative process. I am heavily involved with the lighting aspect of my role, as I see the image benefiting most from the paintbrush of luminance. I approach each frame as a canvas, trying to utilize pleasurable color palettes and thoughtful shadow placement to shape mood and meaning. With these ideologies, I try to manipulate viewers not just to see but to feel the story unfolding on screen. I believe cinematography is not just about capturing moments but about revealing hidden truths. My goal is always to elevate the narrative by framing the ordinary in extraordinary ways.

Throughout my career, I've collaborated on a variety of projects, from intimate short films to ambitious narrative features, consistently earning recognition for visual storytelling that deepens emotional connections and advances narrative momentum. Currently based in Chicago, IL, I remain active within the local filmmaking community, continually exploring new cinematic influences and experimenting with fresh visual aesthetics.

When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me immersed in Chicago's vibrant film scene or experimenting creatively with new ideas. I'm always eager to collaborate and help bring your next project to life visually—let’s create something compelling together.
